Notes:	12/13/2001: Description of Frank Potvin's eulogy by Col. Fenton: The funeral mass was a somber, quiet event held at the Quantico MCB Memorial Chapel during a light drizzle under an overcast sky. Mrs. Nancy Brown, English teacher QHS, gave a beautiful eulogy which truly captured the endearing qualities of Frank Potvin and his loving family. Needless to say, it was emotionally moving. There were quite a number of colleagues, friends and all of his family in attendance. A handful of former students, two of which I recognized-- Capt Rick Hartman USCG and Col Nancy Pachuta Anderson-- were also in attendance. For those of you who had the opportunity to offer loving comments, Nancy superbly told your stories and antidotes as only she is so capable of doing. There was not a dry eye in the chapel. Also, let me thank those of you who sent missives to me... I did my best to share them w/ Mrs. Potvin. We have clearly lost of our most dear mentors-- a true friend, counselor, academian, teacher, and coach. Please keep Betty and her family in your prayers.

While I'm no legend at QPHS, it was Miss Clark who brought home to me the impact of my Catholic family on the school. On the first day my year in the seventh grade, Miss Clark called the roll, "George Flynn?" I responded politely, "here." Miss Clark continued, "Are you related to Helena Flynn?" "She's my sister," I answered. "Are you related to Chaumont Flynn?" she asked. "He's my older brother," I answered. "And Nora Flynn?" "She's my next-oldest sister." Finally, Miss Clark asked, "Just how many Flynns are there?" "Six," I answered. "Who's next?" she asked. "Margaret," I answered -- but she's only in the third grade." QPHS, short of some name private high schools, had to be the best source of secondary education in the nation. Thanks again for writing back and have a wonderful holiday season. Hi Greg: I had occasion to see my sister Mary Forde this past week and she told me that you had taken control of this list. As she may have told you, although I only attended my junior year in 1965, I graduated from Camp Lejeune the following year. In 1986, after going to many of my husband's high school reunions here in California, I decided that it was time to try and pull something together for our classes at Lejeune. So I got a list of the old cronies from my dad and sent letters to those parents who were still out there asking for addresses of their students in the 1965-1967 classes. To my utter amazement, I actually found about 350 from those classes. So I wrote letters to those students and from there, we went on to have what we still believe was the greatest reunion of all times. Three classes -- about 400 people -- who actually found their way back to Lejeune in 1986. It was really so much fun and we all had a great time. Since that time, there have been several other reunions mostly involving ALL CLASSES but it was ours for those three classes that left so many memories. He had attended Palomar College in San Marcos, California, while his dad was stationed at Camp Pendleton. He came down with a rare form of bone cancer while at New Mexico, came home at Thanksgiving and passed away the following February. My sisters (2 of the 3) , brother and I went from 1971, 72 and 73. My senior year, my Father was transferred to Okinawa, so we moved to Clearwater. I ended up graduating from Dunedin High School and then going to Florida State. Are you going to the reunion? My two sisters are going again, they went 5 years ago and had a blast. I really didn't remember many people's names until I saw them on the site. And then, boy, did it start bringing back memories! Jeannette Comer and Frank Potvin were my favorite teachers. If Miss Comer is looking, I want her to know I continued with French in college for four years. I didn't major, but I could have since I had over 30 hours. Now, I am talking my second daughter into taking French! Talk about an influence! ! I played basketball with Georgia Beumer. I have great memories of playing basketball but I don't remember who all was on the team -- I'd love to see a list. Randy and Ty Crew were friends who lived in my apartment building at Quantico.
